Think Pink with Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino's Pinktober Campaign and Help Find a Cure for Breast Cancer

Hotel Kicks Off Month-long Initiative with Breast Cancer Survivors Party on Sept. 22;  Proceeds from Selected Room Stays, Drinks and Hard Rock Café Pinktober Collectibles and Apparel to Benefit Susan G. Komen, Gilda's Club and Breast Cancer Research Foundation

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – In an effort to help raise funds for and awareness about breast cancer, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is bringing back its successful Pinktober campaign, beginning September 22. The hotel will host a special Pink Pool Party* at 7 p.m. for breast cancer survivors on that evening to launch the initiative. Proceeds from specially designated "pink-sheet" hotel room bookings and sales from Pinktober themed drinks will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Gilda's Club. Hard Rock Café Hollywood limited edition Pinktober collectibles and apparel will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Celebrated author Alesia Shute will be conducting a book signing for the invited guests at the Pink Pool Party. Shute was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 7. Her renowned book, Everything's Okay is her story of survival that details not only her recovery, but also her struggles through school, boys, marriage, and pregnancy, with some hilarious tales of business to boot.

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will be going all out this year in support of Pinktober. Expect to see shades of pink in everything from pool towels, chickee lounge cushions, interior and exterior lighting and more. The hotel's signature welcoming guitar will don a special oversized pink ribbon and smaller replica ribbon pins will adorn hotel staff.

Once again, the hotel has set aside special guest rooms outfitted in pink-hued, guitar-embossed Sleep Like a Rock bedding with 25% of the room rate benefitting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The rooms will also feature pink bath robes and pink flower arrangements.  Rates for the month of October range from $189 to $349 per night. Guests will have an added opportunity to contribute additional funds to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Gilda's Club upon checking out.

Soft pastel and hot pink hues will also liven up Center Bar, the Lobby Bar and the Beach Club as bartenders serve up Pink Ribbon Martinis for $6, White Zinfandel for $4 and Komen Cosmos for $8. For each drink sold, $1 will be donated to the cause.

Also beginning September 22, the Hard Rock Café - Hollywood will also be offering limited-edition collectible Pinktober pins, key chains and robes, night shirts, t-shirts and bedding that will also benefit the charity. Coveted Hard Rock Pinktober pins dedicated to the cause are tenth in a series and feature a silver, three-dimensional curved hinge covering the body of the guitar, filled with clear rhinestones.  When the hinge is opened, a hot pink acoustic guitar with a pale pink ribbon design – a symbol for breast cancer supporters – is revealed.  The pin also features the powerful message "Stop Breast Cancer for Life" ($12). The pins will be the complimentary turn-down amenity in "Pink Sheets" rooms.  Sleep Like a Rock bedding supplies include pink duvets, pink sheets, pink pillow cases, pink robes, women's night shirt, pink bath towels and pink bath mats.

On October 7, all hotel staff will be bedecked in pink. Similarly, over 100 Seminole Hard Rock employees will participate in the Susan G. Komen "Race for a Cure" in Downtown Miami on October 17.

Rock out for a cure this September and October by celebrating Pinktober at Hard Rock locations worldwide!  The 2009 Pinktober campaign marks the 10-year anniversary of Hard Rock International's support of a search for a cure to breast cancer. The month-long Pinktober campaign is an initiative created to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research, and features limited-edition products, as well as a series of live music and fundraising events at Hard Rock establishments around the world.

    About Susan G. Komen

Susan G. Komen fought breast cancer with her heart, body and soul. Throughout her diagnosis, treatments, and endless days in the hospital, she spent her time thinking of ways to make life better for other women battling breast cancer instead of worrying about her own situation. That concern for others continued even as Susan neared the end of her fight. Moved by Susan's compassion for others and committed to making a difference, Nancy G. Brinker promised her sister that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever.

That promise is now Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the global leader of the breast cancer movement, having invested more than $1 billion since inception in 1982. As the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, we're working together to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®, and generous contributions from our partners, sponsors and fellow supporters, we have become the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world

It is the vision of Gilda's Club Worldwide to become the international leader for strengthening the global awareness of this philosophy, and to advance an understanding of the essential bond that emotional and social support brings to the cancer experience, not only for those living with cancer, but also for the families and friends who surround them.

About The Breast Cancer Research Foundation

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® was founded in 1993 by Evelyn H. Lauder as an independent, not-for-profit 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to funding innovative clinical and translational research.  The Foundation supports scientists at top universities and academic medical centers worldwide conducting the most advanced and promising breast cancer research that will lead to prevention and a cure in our lifetime.  A minimum of 85 cents of each dollar donated to the Foundation goes directly to breast cancer research and awareness programs.  In October 2007, $32 million was awarded to 151 scientists across the United States and in Canada, Latin America, the Middle East, and throughout Europe. And for the seventh consecutive year, Breast Cancer Research Foundation received Charity Navigator's highest rating, four stars, thus outperforming over 99% of the evaluated charities, while the American Institute of Philanthropy has awarded Breast Cancer Research Foundation its highest possible rating of A+.  Breast Cancer Research Foundation is the only breast cancer organization in the U.S. to receive these accolades.  For more information, visit www.bcrfcure.org or call 1.866.FIND.A.CURE.
